Roles and Responsibilities in the Theatre explored

Here is a YouTube Playlist that I have curated which covers 10 different job roles within the theatre, including Director, Costume Designer and Front of House Manager.

It is a requirement for most Examination Syllabuses that students know about these roles and responsibilities within theatre. Although it’s a minimum requirement that students know what the job roles are, I think that it is worth exploring the roles further. The ideal would be to get a professional into your school to discuss their role. However, unless you have students who have a particular interest in that area, this ideal option is probably a bit extreme. What is good though is to spend a lesson or two watching these YouTube clips and ask students to do some follow up work with it. Ask them to document what the responsibilities are within the roles, what kind of challenges the roles face and any connections between roles.
