This is a short course with hours of CPD videos, tasks and resources to help you develop a strong, robust and sustainable assessment practice for Drama across Key Stage 3, 4 and 5.

Course outline

Session One: What is assessment? We being by making clear definitions of the different types of assessment there are and the purposes of each type.

Session Two: Assessment and the mastery of Drama. In this session we will look at the theory side of mastery. Finding out what mastery of a subject is and looks like in general and in Drama.

Session Three: Formative assessment. With the knowledge from Session Three and the understanding of how to use the Cognitive processes to break down the end goals for units of learning, we look at how we use formative assessment to help us understand how much our students know and what else they need to do to get to their goals.

Session Four: Summative assessment. In the penultimate Session we will look at the importance of summative assessment and how to create a robust summative assessment strategy.

Session Five: Creating an assessment policy for your department. In this final session we shall review what we have learnt from the course and create an assessment policy for your department.
